When I first arrived at the school I was a little hesitant, unsure of what to expect… When John stepped up to speak, I thought to myself “Oh No, this guy is serious about this Guide’s stuff!” Not that I was here for play time… I guess I thought I already knew so much about hunting and fishing that becoming a Guide would be a walk in park….. With just a few sentences from John, I knew I didn’t know as much as I thought…. Well I received the most rewarding surprise of my life. It was a learning vacation! We laughed, shared, told stories, gathered around the camp fire, cooked, fished, canoed, all mixed in with what we needed to learn to become a Guide. I’ve met some incredible people this past week that have become friends. Anyway, I could go on and on about the whole week ~ I think my wife and kids have heard it all, maybe even a couple of times over.
I’m so happy I chose your Hands On school for one of the greatest experiences of my life. Thanks! David T. John & Tami, This has been quite a week. I’ve learned more in this week than I have in all the years of hunting. You are all wonderful people, and I thank you for helping me reach my goals. The “Hands On” is a great way of learning.
I’ve now passed my oral and written exams and am one of Maine’s newest Registered Maine Guides. I never could have done it without all of you. This hands on experience has been one of the finest weeks of my life. You people are great! Keep doing this course and I promise to keep in touch with you all. You’ve got my #1 Vote! Wow - what more can a person say about this awesome “Hands On” learning vacation. My eyes and ears have been opened to so many things that take place in woods of Maine. If I had to say one thing about what I liked best during the whole week I’d be speechless. If I had to say many things that I liked the best I’d have to write a novel…. But here it is any way… I loved cooking outdoors - making biscuits was a blast! Learning how to fly fish was something I always wanted to do - that part was super, but….catching a trout was the highlight! The canoe trip was fantastic. By the way John C. my strokes have really improved - you’d be proud. Anyway, I can for see a novel in the beginnings - so Thank you! I would like to thank you all for the information, time and effort you put into helping me to get through the class and the test. I will always hold a special place in my heart for all of you. Thank you - more than simple words can express. I have had a wonderful week. I’ve met new and interesting people, plus I had fantastic host! I’ve had years of knowledge stuffed into my head in a weeks’ time (more than I would have thought possible). I’ve learned a lot, laughed a lot. And had the best week I’ve had in a very long time. Thank you for the most memorable experience and the priceless gift of knowledge. This week far exceeded my expectations. Thanks to all! John, Tami, and Crew, Thank you for opening the door for me. This creation of learning by all hands on is truly amazing. This is one incredible week I will never forget. Roses are Red I feel like I finally have developed the “awareness” of the Maine woods and waters that for so many years have been missing. What a great time this week has been. I wished I would have done it sooner. Thank you for sharing of yourselves, your knowledge, and creating this program in the first place.
