Capt. John A. Rogers is a Master Maine Guide and US Coast Guard Captain. He, along with his wife Tami founded Eagle Lodge and Camps Registered Maine Guide School (now Maine’s Outdoor Learning Center) in 1997. In 1994 he and his wife bought an old set of Sporting Camps that were in dire need of TLC. The two took an outdated, animal inhabited, no client base set of camps and turned it into a place where sportsmen and their families came to gather year after year. Before the camps John owned and operated an Outfitting Catalog and Store Co. in Freeport, Maine for outdoorsmen and women. He also owned and operated his own restaurant for 13 years.
To date, John guides others in Maine for fishing and hunting. He has been guiding bear, deer and moose hunters for many years. However, his passion is guiding on the waters of Maine. John also guides in the Florida Keys for tarpon, bonefish, barracuda, etc., during the winter months.

John - has fished many parts of the world such as Canada, Alaska, Costa Rica, British West Indies, the Colorado River in Arizona, the Florida Keys, and all over the coast of Maine as well as inland waters. He’s an avid hunter who loves the outdoors and many consider him to be one of the great Guides of Maine. If you don’t see John on the waters, you’ll find him building handcrafted Fly Rods, along with tying flies.

"It's a passion that one can never get tired of!"

John is a natural teacher of the woods and waters. His many years of fishing and hunting, guiding clients, and simply sharing his knowledge with others gives him one of the greatest pleasure of instructing the many facets of becoming a Maine Guide. He also teaches Fly Fishing and Casting Techniques.

"I invite you to join me and my crew for a wonderful week or weekend of lifelong learning and friendships."
