| This USCG approved course is very popular with our past students since all guiding below head tide waters require a captain’s license to guide. Our captain’s course is a US Coast Guard approved course, which not only takes care of filling out USCG applications, drug testing, and all the questions about days at sea, but you will be tested at weeks end by a USCG approved instructor. After testing, the test will be corrected on site and you will receive the results. The test results, along with the appropriate paperwork will be sent into the Coast Guard. The license you receive is not only one to be very proud of, but enables one to do many things on the water anywhere in the U.S.

The C.G. must check your national driving record before issuing a license. Since 9/11 all people must be seen in person. Generally, you must bring your paperwork to the Coast Guard in Boston. They will collect your processing fees, swear you in as a Merchant Marine Deck Officer, and mail you your license. License issuance may take up to 1 week, or more. C.G. license fees are $100.00 for processing and $45.00 for license issuance, which can be paid by check or cash. The Coast Guard will not make change if paying in cash. Always have your driver’s license and Social Security card when going to the Coast Guard. |
